OPS CHEETAH UPDATE 1.0

+++++Encoding....[DECRYPTED]+++++

Security Clearance: Black (Eyes Only)
Message Transmission: 0956 hours to Team 7 QRF (en route to DZ) - URGENT!!!
Transmission Station: Zulu Foxtrot Bravo

MISSION UPDATE:

In addition to retrieval and recovery of the [CLASSIFIED], Team 7 is now required to conduct further operations in Sector Red Dynasty. Intel reports that high-value targets will also be involved in attempting to recover the [CLASSIFIED]. Secondary objective during this mission will be to eliminate said target once the tango has been identified. Field teams are now gathering the data and will transmit the intel to your location. Decryption password is GOTUS*CKA. Tertiary objective is to bring down enemy listening station. Target location can be identified by the weather balloon attached to the position.

While Operation Cheetah's primary objective has been to recover the [CLASSIFIED], we have also received a high-level communique that Forward Base 13 just across the border has been overrun by insurgent forces. After the completion of your primary mission, proceed to the adjacent Sector to secure a rallying point for our retreating forces. Hold the position for at least 5 minutes so that inbound air support can zero on your position to achieve aerial superiority to allow evac aircraft into the area.

Godspeed.

So much for the flavour text. Here's the briefing:

SCENARIO 1: Retrieval and Recovery
  1. Two teams. Roughly even numbers.
  2. Each team member must recover one cone from the centre of the field and bring it back to their start point.
  3. Stage 1 completed once all cones have been recovered.
  4. After cones have been recovered, team must shoot balloon on opposite side.
  5. Stage 2 completed once balloon has burst. Mission completed.
  6. Other rules in effect: MEDIC! (see previous post), SNIPER (see below)
SCENARIO 2: Fly the Flag
  1. Two teams. Roughly even numbers.
  2. Two flags in centre of the field.
  3. Teams must move forward, recover the flag in their own side and bring it to a designated point where they must raise it. They have to fly the flag for at least 5 minutes to complete the mission. If the flag goes down (because the members holding it have been hit), then the count starts again from zero.
  4. Other rules in effect: SNIPER, ROGUE TEAM (see below)

RULES

  • SNIPER - One person on each team is designated the Target. The other team must score at least one confirmed hit on the Target in order to complete the mission. Can be done anytime during the mission. But unless the Target is hit, the mission cannot be completed.
  • ROGUE TEAM - One small group (maybe 3-4 persons) can be designated the ROGUE TEAM. They set up somewhere in the middle of the field and have no mission objective. They can shoot at either side to complicate the main mission for the other two teams. However, each ROGUE TEAM member has only one "life" and must leave the play area after they are hit. The other teams can respawn as per normal.

PREPARATION (Need volunteers)

  • Balloons, with the sticks to support them
  • Masking tape (2 rolls)
  • Marker pen
  • Flags (pieces of cloth will do) on flagpoles
  • Sports Cones (at least one for each player)

Cheers!

OPERATION CHEETAH - Aug 16 - Red Dynasty

+++++Encoding....[DECRYPTED]+++++

Security Clearance: Black (Eyes Only)

Message Transmission: 1425 hours to Team 7 QRF (en route to DZ)

Transmission Station: Zulu Foxtrot Bravo

MISSION BRIEFING: OPERATION CHEETAH

At 1354 hours, TEAM 6 which was carrying the [CLASSIFIED] device in RED DYNASTY SECTOR (location now confirmed), was intercepted. TEAM 6's last transmission confirmed that they had managed to break down the [CLASSIFIED] into separate components and conceal them before calling in an airstrike on their position. Post-strike aerial reconnaisance has confirmed that the Sector has been cleared of hostiles, although sat-intel and 19 Delta confirms several tangos moving into the Sector, ETA 15 minutes. The transponders mounted on the [CLASSIFIED]confirms that the components survived the airstrike and can be recovered.

File identification reference for [CLASSIFIED]:

Mission Objective: Retrieval and recovery. The [CLASSIFIED] is highly sensitive and combustible if recombined. The individual units must be kept separate. Each member of TEAM 7 can only carry one component of the [CLASSIFIED] or it may activate the device. ALL components of the [CLASSIFIED] must be recovered and returned to the LZ for exfil.

Engagement Area: Semi-urban ruin.

Rules of Engagement: Weapons free. Eliminate all tangos and retrieve all components of [CLASSIFIED]. Operation is COVERT and action will be disavowed. Casualties not recoverable by medevac will be classified as killed in training.

Aerial Cover: None. Hostiles have comprehensive surface-air systems which prevent deployment of close air support. Predator UAV Drones in the Sector have only been outfitted for reconnaisance.

So much for the storyline to get you guys in the mood. In line with the observations raised during Ops Bravo, "turtling" or hiding in your shell with just your gun sticking out is becoming a bit of a problem, reducing the level of engagement which is the !FUN! part of paintballing. So here's a few ideas that have been raised that we can try out for Ops Cheetah:

INDIVIDUAL ACTION

  1. Each team member must retrieve a cone that has been placed in the engagement zone and return it to the start point.
  2. Each team must keep going until one team retrieves all the cones, each member retrieving one cone each.
  3. To mix it up, we can also include some target shooting as well. One person can be in charge of taking out a balloon, knocking over a cone, etc while the rest retrieve cones.

MEDIC!!!

  1. To keep things more fluid (and reduce running back and forth), each team has a designated MEDIC. When a member has been downed by enemy "fire", the MEDIC can go up to the casualty and slap a patch on the casualty to reactivate him. Until the MEDIC gets there, the casualty has to sit/stay down at the spot he was hit. If the MEDIC goes down, any member of the team can patch up the MEDIC using the patches the MEDIC is carrying (so that the MEDIC is not such a huge target for the other side). Patches will probably be masking tape strips that have to be placed on the shoulder/arm of the casualty. This also helps us keep a running score of who has been sniper-bait.

More updates to come as we figure out more RoE (Rules of Engagement)! Stay tuned!
